He was arrogant, purse-proud and puffed-up with his possessions, his income and his large family and followings. He looked down on his companion, trying to impress him with his importance and forgetting that what all he had was from God. His thoughts were engrossed in his property; his hopes built on it and it had become an absorbing passion of his life. In his mind “better” means more wealth and more power; of the kind he was enjoying in this world. Because of his great income and lavished resources, he would not listen to his companion, who boasted of nothing as his trust was in God.
