Why God sends Messengers..?

Why God sends Messengers?

Generally, every child born in this world is endowed with eyes to see, ears to hear, nose to smell and breathe, hands to touch, feet to walk and a mind to think. All those potentialities, powers and faculties that a man needs or will need, are most carefully provided and marvellously set in his tiny body. Every minute requirement is foreseen and provided for.

It is the same with the world he lives in. Everything essential for his life is provided: air, light, heat, water and so on. A child opening his eyes finds his food in his mother chest, his parents love him instinctively and in their hearts is an irresistible urge to look after him, to bring him up and to sacrifice all they can for his welfare.

Under the sheltering care of this system of sustenance a child grows to maturity and at every stage of his life obtains from nature all that he needs and finds the whole Universe at his service. Hence we find that for his every slightest and minute need, he finds the provision in abundance.

But, what about his biggest need i.e.the purpose of his creation..???

Our reason refuses to accept that God, who had planned for our smallest of needs, did not address this question. How it can be possible that He, who has provided man with even the tiniest of his requirements, would not provide any help for this greatest requirement..???

There must be someone to clearly tell man the purpose of his creation and meaning of life itself; what are the proper ends of life and how are they to be achieved; what are the proper values for living and how they can be attained. It can never be so that there is no one to answer these questions. And it is not so.

God in every age, through His Grace, Mercy and Benevolence raised for mankind men among themselves who we call as Prophets or Messengers of God and to whom He imparted the true knowledge of His attributes, revealed to them His Laws and Right Code of Living, gave them the knowledge about where do we come from and to where we have to go and thus showed them the way by which man can achieve the purpose of his creation and eternal success.

But, one might say that every man by using his own reason and knowledge can find the answers of the above asked questions. To say that I will find the way myself, in spite of the presence of clear guidance from a Prophet, is a blind refusal of the guidance given to him by God and if everybody tries to start from the beginning, it would be a gross waste of time and energy.

We never do so in science and arts: why here? Even if man is equipped with the highest faculties of reason and intellect and possesses matchless wisdom and experience, still the chances of his formulating the correct views are slight.

For example, look at the colour problem. The worldwas not able to adopt a rational and human approach towards the coloured people. Even biology for some time was used to sanction the colour discrimination. In the United States of America for the last two centuries the courts upheld the differentiation.

Thousands of human beings were coerced, gagged and tortured for the ‘crime’ that their skin was black. Separate laws were made for the whites and blacks. They could not even study under the same roof in a same college. It was only on May 17, 1954 that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that colour discrimination in universities was unjust and against the principle of equality of man.

After committing heinous blunders for centuries man came to the view that such discrimination are unjust and should be abolished. This is how the human mind dealt with the problem.

On the other hand, we hear a man saying, “O people, there is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab nor for a non-Arab over an Arab: nor for a white over a black nor for a black over a white except in piety (righteousness – God’s consciousness). This statement was said more than 14 centuries ago, but unguided reason was able to succeed only in touching the fringe of it after centuries of waste, losses and blunders, after subjecting hundreds of thousands of people to indiscriminate segregation and after degrading men and corrupting human society.

A Messenger of God shows the right path, the noble course and saves man from error and blunder. Mind accepts whatever he says, the heart feels it is true; and experience of the world testifies to every word that flows out from his mouth. He suffers for the good of others, and never makes others to suffer for him.

Think again…

And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (O Muhammad) any but men, whom We sent revelation, (to preach and invite mankind to believe in Oneness of Allah). So ask (you, O non-believers) from those who know the scriptures (learned men of Torah and Gospel), if you know not.
With clear signs and Books (We sent the Messengers). And We have also sent down to you (O Muhammad) the Dhikr [reminder and advice (i.e. Quran)], that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them, and that they may give thought. (Quran Ch.16 Ver. 43-44)
