How
a message can lead to Hellfire..?
How
ignorance can lead to death? Nowadays it is a common practice to forward
messages whether non-religious or religious for the sake of reward or helping
other people.
But
it is causing more harm than benefit to the extent that in India, people are
even getting killed because of forwarded fake news and religiously speaking it
is so dangerous that it can not only lead to punishment in the grave but can rather
prevent us from entering into Paradise.
The
Lawgiver Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) issued a
stern warning against passing on false information.
Narrated
Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet (pbuh) saying,
“A Qattat will not enter Paradise.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadith No.82). A
Qattat is a person who conveys disagreeable, false information from one person
to another with the intention of causing harm and enmity between them.
It
is also Narrated Ibn ‘Abbaas (rza): Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) passed by two
graves and said, “Both of them (persons in the grave) are being tortured, and
they are not being tortured for a major sin. This one used not to save himself
from being soiled with his urine, and other used to go about with calumnies
(among the people to rouse hostilities, e.g., one goes to a person and tells
him that so-and-so says about him such and such evil things).” (Sahih
Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadith No.78).
It
is not correct to pass any information without verifying it as
It
was narrated that Hafs ibn ‘Aasim said: The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said:
“It is enough lying for a man to speak of everything that he hears.” (Narrated
by Muslim in al-Muqaddimah, 6; Saheeh al-Jaami, 4482).
It
was also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “It is enough
sin for a man to speak of everything that he hears.” (Al-Silsilah al-Sahee,
2025).
Therefore, and it is better
to be on a safer side and not to forward any news if we don’t have time to
check it. To be very cautious in this matter before we are not left with any
time to
Think
again…
“O
you who believe! If a Faasiq (liar — evil person) comes to you with any news,
verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become
regretful for what you have done”. [Al-Quran Sura Hujuraat 49:6]
